Freed

Brett Hahn

I built Freed because the formation was missing.

Brett Hahn

My seventh great-grandfather was Thomas Murphy. Private, 2nd Regiment, Salem County New Jersey Militia. He paid the supply tax in 1780 and 1781, the years the war ground on and the army needed everything the home counties could provide. I inherited the pride of that lineage. What I did not inherit was the formation behind it.

In 2022, after my daughter was born, I came back to Christ. A real return. A thirst to be a righteous man and a father worth following. I started reading the founders differently. Their letters. Their sermons. The Bibles they kept. What I found was a founding I had not been taught. The Declaration of Independence is the closing argument of a sermon the colonial pulpit had been preaching since 1634. The men who signed it were not philosophers. They were the formation product of seven generations of the Word taken seriously.

In 2025 my son was born. I held him and thought about Thomas Murphy. I thought about the gap between his formation and mine. I thought about what I wanted to give my son that I had not been given. Not the pride. I had the pride. The formation behind it.

Freed is that formation. The Word that built the republic is the same Word that builds free men today. The Sermon on the Mount. The letters of Paul. The arc from Genesis to Revelation. This is not a Bible app. It is a formation tool. Built for the man who is serious about becoming worth following.
